The Pizza Man Corvette and a
good looking Falcon duke it out at Pomona
I noticed your photo's by Vern Scholz that there was one of the "Pizza Man" corvette which ran a 6 cylinder in H/MP and in the same photo
there is an un-identified Ford Falcon. I can let you know that the green Falcon was driven by Donnie Jackson who was from Clarkston,
Washington and he was also running a 300 cubic inch 6 cylinder with a 4 spd in H/MP. Myself and a friend were in Southern California
in August of 1971 having a 300 Ford 6 being built by Jack Clifford to be used in a 63 Ford Falcon and on our return trip to Vancouver, B.C.
we stayed with the Jacksons . I recall the car was sponsored by Hoff Ford a local dealer and by Thrifty Auto Parts. Also I believe he was
a class champion at the 67 Winternationals. Thanks Don Blair

This was a unique Gasser from calgary, it is a Volvo with a 426 Hemi and it was one of the fast gassers around here. It was owned by Barry Dornian . It met its demise in a shopping center parking lot . Late at night some testing was going on and
it was rolled trying to negotiate a turn. The color was a metalflake Popsicle purple and it had gold leaf lettering |

This pair was out of Spokane , and ran as
gassers (sometimes the 57 ran as a MP) but they were always in the finals, strong runners. The 53 had a 6 in it. They ran under the Baldwin Bros
name. Late 60s early 70s.
