~ The Classic Thunder Series  ~

The Thunder Rolls!

The Southern Division of the new Classic Thunder Nostalgia Drag Racing Series held its first-ever event in Ware Shoals, South Carolina in August of 2002, and by all accounts it was a great success. One month later, the tour rolled into Greeleyville, South Carolina for stop number two, and again, the racing action was a nostalgia fans dream come true, with gassers, fuel floppers, front engine dragsters and just about everything in between tearing up the eighth-mile strip.

The group will be wrapping up the 2002 season in a big way with a two-day event at storied Darlington International Dragway on the 29th and 30th of November, with a monster car show, swap meet and of course, lots of loud, tire-smoking, wheel-standing drag racing action, just the way it used to be! In addition, there will be plenty of surprises, including guest appearances by a number of the top stars in the sport today, the debut of some hot new-for-2003 race cars, and lots more.

This event will serve as a springboard for the first full season of thrilling Classic Thunder competition in 2003. Beginning next year, the recently activated North Central Division will join the Southern Division as we go “back to the future” and let fans both young and old relive the sights and sounds that made the golden age of drag racing the memorable experience it truly was.
