This is my "Stardust Engineering" 64 Dodge funny/match racer. I used a Jo-Han body for this project, and slid it on a Lindberg chassis/floorpan. I stuffed the wheels forward about 1/2 inch on both ends. Didn't really measure, just moved 'em 'till I liked where they were. I hollowed out the headlight buckets, and replaced the grille with a piece of brass mesh painted to look like tin. I hollowed out the radiator core support and left the inner fenderwells out since an axle was going in front.
I used a widened axle from Revell's Tweedy Pie kit with Willys springs, steering box, and spindles. I put subframe connectors in the car, and used the 8 3/4 rear and pushbutton torque-flite from AMT's 58 plumouth. The 392 is from Altered States, with fuel lines and ignition wires. I also added brake lines.
I foiled all of the trim and used bits and pieces of P/L funny car decal sheets to get the sponsors that I wanted. The Engineering Co. lettering came from Revell's 50 Austin re-issue, I just put 'em under the P/L Stardust decal. The paint is actually a candy red, laid over a gold base, just doesn't show too well in the pic. I used Revell spindle mount Americans in front with Halibrands and slicks from a P/L funny. I tossed a parachute in the spot where the license plate goes, just for good measure.
