~ AA/Gas Competition ~

AA/Gas winner Chris Abbey in the Goshgarian & Abbey Corvette put away Dale Boomgaarden in the Mallicoat Bros Cuda on the final pairing with a 6.731 to Dale's 6.751. Dale left first, but Chris was first to the lights.

After putting away both Howard Anderson and Ed Moss, Dale Boomgaarden, in the Mallicoat Brothers' Cuda, fell to Chris Abbey in the final. Dale left on everyone he raced!

Cecil Matthews and his Shotgun-motored T-Bird left on Mike Leonard's Chevelle by a bunch to become the winner of the AA/Gas "B" Field eliminations with a 7.100 at 195.14 to Leonard's 6.927 at 201.74

Darryl Jensen could muster no better than a 7.388 and was not able to qualify.

With a best in qualifying of 7.202 at 193.42, Dave Thompson and his "Bad Habit" Willys were unable to qualify for the all 6-second AA/Gas field.

The other Ford Shotgun-motored entry was Ed Moss.  His qualifying blast of 6.590 at 208.86 stood as low e.t. and top speed for the AA/Gassers and earned him the #1 spot.  After beating  "Mad Mike" Molea in round 1, Ed was late at the light in round 2 and was beaten by Dale Boomgaarden in the Mallicoat Bros. Cuda.

Howard Anderson, # 4 qualifier with a 6,757 at 206.80  was defeated in round 1 by Dale Boomgaarden, 6.753 to 7.027.

John Peterson posted a best of 7.044, 178.11 and was unable to qualify for the 8-car field.

"Mad Mike" Molea lit up the red bulb in round 1, losing to Ed Moss.

Mitch Chamberlin was not the "Lucky One" this weekend.  He couldn't get out of the low 8's and was unable to qualify.

Chuck Moore and Steve Woods, with Chuck at the helm, left late in round 1, ran a stout 6.667, and was defeated by Sean Renteria who turned in a 6.788 for the win.

Rich Roberts had the misfortune of meeting Chris Abbey in round and turned in a substandard 8.263 at 169.81.

Ron Christy posted a best qualifying pass of 7.944 at 161.03 and had to sit out the eliminations.

A 6.985 at 196.50  qualifying pass wasn't good enough to get Ronnie Nunes into the pack.

After taking out Chuck Moore in round 1, Sean Renteria was out first in round 2, but Chris Abbey drove around him for the win.
