By the way, if the name Briggs sounds familiar to any of the "more experienced" (didn't want to say "older") of you out there, Think Briggs & Cagle.  Bob grew up around drag racing with his dad.
Unable to qualify in the crowded A/Gas field, Butch Ranson still put on a great show for the fans.
Though he was unable to qualify for the Pro Supercharged field, Cecil Matthews impressed many with his cool, shotgun Ford powered 55 T-Bird.
Chris Abbey's ride, the Gosgarian & Abbey Corvette, is a beautifully engineered and constructed piece.  Abbey, the number 8 qualifier in Pro Super, was taken out in round 1 however, by eventual runner-up, Steve Wood.
Dale Boomgaarden, driving the Mallicoat Brothers' very strong  Barracuda Pro Super qualified, number 2, but got beat in the second round by Steve Wood.
John Peterson just missed qualifying for Pro Super in his first outing since the unfortunate collision with Mel Bryson last year at Sonoma.
Rich Roberts was the number 7 Pro Super qualifier in his beautiful 33 Willys, but redlighted in round 1 against Howard Anderson.
Number 6 qualifier in Pro Super was Steve Woods.  Steve was put on the trailer in round 1 when he was late on the tree against Dale Boomgaarden in the Mallicoat Cuda.
