Cool selection of Altereds. |

Custom Speed Shop A/SR from Washington, DC. Very nice, but a bit "old school" for 1966-67. I wonder how competitive it was. |
|
Well...now I know how competitive it was! Dave Hales supplied the following information: "The Custom Speed Shop Street Roadster was owned, built, and operated by Courtney Scott. This car, with Courtney at the controls, won B/SR at the 1960 NHRA NATIONALS and also won Street Eliminator at that event. The best part of the story is that he still has this car sitting in his garage with Desoto Hemi, Hilborns, original paint and lettering etc. A real treasure!!!" Very Cool! Sure would love to see that in the light of day! |

Jim Davis and Wes Ingrahm's "Jewel T" from San Jose, CA. |

The beautiful and badass, Dorman & Koopman AA/SR. |

Jim Down brought his A/A from Wyoming, IL. |

"The Redskin" B/MSP of Dorner's Chevrolet |

"Hud". Nice looking Fiat A/A, but no idea who ran it or where they were from. |

"Flintstone's Malfunction". C/A running out of Edgerton, OH. Anyone have any idea what kind of body that is? I don't recall seeing that flat, split windshield before. |

Gene Mori's very popular "ChevWagon" VW Altered. |

With Herb Moller's name on it, I can only guess that Jack Ditmars had sold the popular 34 Ford Altered to him. |

The famous, and very quick, "High & Mighty" A/SR. |

Well, I'm guessing it's an Astra body, but my memory has filed me before when it comes to these custom-bodied cars. No matter, the "Hobo" was a pretty cool A/MSP car! |

Given the engine setback, I'd guess that "Lunch Meat" was usually run as a Gasser, but probably couldn't quite pass the notorious tech for Indy so was run as an Altered. That happened to Gassers a lot at Indy where every rule was strictly enforced. Love the headers! |

Another custom-bodied Modified Sports car. This one sponsored by Midwest Auto Parts. |

Cool looking C/MSP Corvette from Reger Speed Supply of Marysville, IN. |

Dave Rudy ran the aptly named, and very fast, "Rudy's Beauty" B/SR. |

A 65 Dodge SS/A named "Satisfaction". By the way, if you ever had to take Latin in school, you'll recognize the wording on the trunk...Veni, Vidi, Vici. |

The" Boss", the Sox & Martin SS/E GTX. |

The Thomas Brothers AA/A. I case some of you younger visitors to this site ever wondered what an Altered is supposed to look like, this is it...not a funny car chassis with a T body stuck on! |

The "UFO" B/A coupe on it's high-dollar transporter. |

I included this shot for 2 reasons. First, another shot of the Dorman-Koopman AA/SR and second, proof that Don Garlits did not invent the rear-engined dragster in 1970! Re-Entry was cool looking, but not terribly successful. |
