Chris Abbey drives the trick Gosgarian & Abbey Corvette AA/Gas entry.
Howard Anderson Qualified 3rd in the 8-car AA/Gas field.
Chris Beanes weekend came to an end with his Henry J on it's roof.  I'm told Chris is okay...but I'll bet his wallet hurts!
Bill Burch had his ex-Gary Fore "Foreplay" Willys out to play.  Bill had some problems and was unable to qualify for the A/Gas field.
Tim Burns managed a 7.101 to qualify 4th in the AA/Gas field, but couldn't keep it hooked and shut off in round 1 against Ronnie Nunes.
Steve Castelli was #1 qualifier in A/Gas.
Like many, Bob Clayton had trouble getting his ex-KS Pittman 33 Willys hooked up to the tricky Famosa track surface and failed to qualify.
Jim Data and his "Dare to be Different" (remember that HRM campaign) qualified #8 for the A/Gas show.
Rich Facciano qualified his cool duece coupe at #5 in the A/Gas wars.
Art Gustafson's "Willy Fast" was the #6 A/Gas qualifier.
Brent Harris towed all the way from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, only to miss qualifying for the A/Gas field in his very cool 33.
Carl Harry was the #5 qualifier for AA/Gas.
Uncharacteristically, Mike Leonard was unable to qualify his Chevelle in the hotly-contested AA/Gas field.
Speaking of uncharacteristic, Dale Boomgaarden, driving the Mallicoat Brothers' badass Cuda could manage only a 7.437 and was unablr to make the AA/Gas field.
Ed Moss' Ford is powered by a Boss 429 "Shotgun" motor.  Ed (and many others) had traction problems and was unable to qualify.  Look for a new paint job next year.
"Speedy Bob" Nevins was in good company as another DNQ for the A/Gas field.  Bob is not a fan of index racing.  Look for him to step up to AA/Gas next season.
Al Nicks towed out from Farmington, NM but was unable to make the A/Gas cut.
By the end of the weekend, Ron Nunes was in the winner's circle for AA/Super.
John Overholser made the A/Gas field at #7 in his exceptionally clean looking, very cool, 56 Chevy.
Jim Pace was the A/Gas runner-up after a 7.599 final against Sean Renteria's 7.609...on a 7.60 index.  That must have been a helluva race to watch!
Gary Reinero's Austin put down a 6.975 for the #2 spot in AA/Gas qualifying.
Sean Renteria was the official butt-kicker in A/Gas, after beating Jim Pace in the very close final matchup.
Rich Robert's 33 Willys was runner-up to Ron Nunes in AA/Gas after lighting the red bulb on the tree.
Here's one I hadn't seen before, and I don't have any information at all about it.

The driver is Rudy Diephuis. Rudy was a long time racer and competitor in A/Gas. Sadly, after the weekend of racing, Rudy was not feeling well and went to the hospital on Wednesday, he later died of a massive heart attack that evening. Rudy was a great friend to many racers and was helping Maryann Harmon get her car ready to run soon. He will be missed, I am glad he was able to make some passes in his car at the 2002 CHRR.

Thank you Mike.  I'm sorry to hear about his passing.  Byron

Dave Torgrimson's beautiful B/Gas Corvette.
Steve Wood was unable to qualify.
#1 AA/Gas qualifier with a 6.886 was Steve Woods.
