Photos by Bob Wenzelberger

Well, boys & girls, here we go again.  Bob Wenzelburger has been kind enough to share his collection of photos from Fremont.  A very cool collection of photos it is, too!  Thank you, Bob.
Don't know whose, but it looks like a pretty nice Corvette.

30 May 2006, Just received the following email from Fred Cattaneo: "I was noticing your photo's from Fremont and happened to see my car. The headline says "don't know whose this is but it looks like a pretty nice corvette" I just wanted to thank you for putting it up."  So now we know...Thanks Fred!

The Gold Brothers D/G 55 Chevy.  In the second photo, it looks like they left on "The Idlers" car pretty good!
The Idlers 55 Chevy gasser.
The "Quicksilver" 55 Chevy D/Gasser drivern by Chuck Conea of San Leandro, CA
Another 55 Chevy Gasser.  The only name I can make out on the door is "McGee".  Anyone have any info?
Lodge & Mowry's B/Gas Falcon.  An Algon injected 427 Ford powered this little beauty.
Not as nice or as fast as the previous Falcon, but this little baby is a pretty good representation of a "Hot Rodded" street Falcon.  This one probably has a SBC or SBF in it to be running D/MP.
Tom Lewis & Pierce's "King Rat A/G 33 Willys.
Don't remember who owned the "Wild Yellow Jack-Get" A/GS Anglia.  Wayne Franks thinks it might have been Jack Holsey out of Sacramento.  Chuck Pacini confirmed that it was, indeed Jack Holsey.  The car was later re-named "Wacky Racer".
Here's a nice looking unknown, unblown B/Gas Anglia.
The "BC Coupe"  Brasher, Cummings & Little John.  (Thanks, Wayne.)
Ponzo & Cerutti Deuce Coupe.  The second photo shows the coupe trying to chase down the DelRio & Carlson 33 Willys.
...speaking of which, here's the DelRio & Carlson A/Gas Willys.
Gary Kleckner's CHEVADO Street Legal wheelstander.  Check out the Chevado Website.
Here's a good example of a pretty typical gasser for the era.  Note the tabs for the tow bar.  The "Bushwacker" was flat-towed, not trailered.

From Bruce McClurg on 27 Dec 2006:  The Bushwacker was owned and driven by Mike Sauer of San Rafael, CA  Thank you Bruce.

The "New Look Auto Painting" Willys coupe.  Wasn't that Coy Martin?

I'm told that it was driven by Coy Martin and that New Look Auto Painting was owned by Tom Lewis (see the "King Rat" 33 Willys, above.)

Unknown Chevy (?) coupe.
Nice early Corvette, probably running in the "Modified Sports" classes.
Cool Chevy Coupe with injected smallblock.
The Herrera & Son A/GS Austin was very competitive at the top of the A/GS circuit.
Tommy's Auto Painting
Unknown pair, Willys & Henry J
Unknown Henry J
55 Chevy
I can't quite make it out, but Bob has this labelled as Wood & Guidi.
Quicksilver vs. "Problem Child II"
A pair of Chevy Gassers square off.  The 55 is the "Spoiler".
Rich Welch Photography.  An injected 55 Sedan Delivery?  Cool!
Modified Production Chevelle sponsored by Campos Auto Service in Milpitas.  Does that really say "Twaddling Turpitude"?
The Del Rio Brothers' Anglia

Byron...Wayne [DelRio] was running this car by himself...Tony got involved and then they chopped the top....Wayne Franks

The popular "Lil Hearse" Thames
While the VW's were never my favorite type of gasser, many of them kicked a lot of butt!  Not sure about the "Monster Masher".
Ernie Nicholson's "Flower Power" A/GS Cuda.
Jim Kirby's Challenger Willys, now owned by Gas-FX member, Phil Quinto.
Norm's Barber Shop
A couple of 55 Chevies duke it out.
Mike Mitchell, "The World's Fastest Hippie".

R.I.P. Mike.

Unknown 33 Willys
Another pair of 55 Chevies going for it.
55 Chevy wagon.  "Bewitched"
The B/G Willys picks up the wheels while the Corvette does the same.  Nice Shot.
The "Bushwacker 57 Chevy v. unknown Henry J.
Gary Reinero (?) in the "Cyclone Express" Austin vs. The Del Rio & Carlson 33 Willys.
The "Old Anglish" Thames.
The Souza Brothers 33 Willys.  As I remember, this was a Ford powered entry.
"Quicksilver" vs. the Souza Brothers.
Corvette Enterprises...hmmmm, seems like a logical sponsor.
The "Mr. Pickett" Corvette
Bob Silva's Austin
Doolin & Stroup Anglia vs. "King Rat" Willys.
A few Altereds
Goodies Speed Shop

The "Goodies" altered was driven by John L. Williams, and my source (?) thought that it was a "Fuel" burner. BW

The "Booby Hatch".

"Booby Hatch" was was an A/FA sponsored by a Strip Club of the same name. BW

Davis & Ingram's immaculate "Jewel T"
The "Booby Hatch" vs. the "Jewel T"(?)
"Dennis the Menace"

According to Bill Dukes, this was driven by Dennis Martin.  BW
