Super Saturday at NHRA National Hot Rod
Reunion
Huge crowds, overflow of hot rods, plus full race schedule make it a
special event
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BOWLING GREEN,
Ky.
- (June 18, 2005) - There are good events, and then there are 'special"
events. On Saturday, the 3rd annual Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion,
presented by DuPont Automotive Finishes, became an extra-special event.
Besides breaking attendance and car records, the Reunion, held at Beech
Bend Park, reached a new level. For example: hotels were sold out 35 miles
away. Cars lined up to get in*at
6:45 a.m.
Families drove 15 hours to get here. A city traffic snafu caused quite a
jam*and no one complained.
Yes, this event was extra-special*and then some.
"This is my third time here and I love it," said Dan Tallent, who drove
his flamed '55 Chevy 10 hours from Kansas City
to enjoy the
Reunion. "I like the nostalgia, the racing and the show cars. I like
everything here. It's a real nice time."
That's exactly what the folks at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum,
producers of the increasingly popular event, have worked hard to achieve.
Mission accomplished!
"We're up in all categories," said Sam Jackson, executive director of the
Parks Museum. "We have about 50 percent more show cars this year and have
maxed out on the racing side. And there're lots more people. This event
really strikes a chord with hot rodders and nostalgia drag racing fans. "
People
were still arriving late Saturday afternoon to check out the 1,300-plus
street rods, muscle cars and classics, catch the Gary Lewis and The
Playboys concert and settle in for some old-fashioned racing under the
stars and Cacklefest.

"It's great to see the families and kids come here and have a good time,"
Jackson said. "It's a
special event held at a legendary track in a great city." |
